LinkedIn No Longer Supports Products & Services Tab – Refocuses on Showcase Pages.
A quick update for all of you with LinkedIn Company Pages: Starting Monday, April 14, LinkedIn will no longer support the Products & Services tab on Company Pages. In fact, they’re removing the content entirely. If you’ve been on your LinkedIn Company Page recently, you already know this, since there’s a big blue banner splashed across the page telling you so.
However, if you’ve been a little remiss in your LinkedInning, or you’re paying a company to manage that presence for you, well, you might want to check it out. Here is the official announcement from LinkedIn:
LinkedIn Company Pages Products & Services – No Longer Supported
What do you do about this?
LinkedIn would like you to use their relatively new Showcase Pages as an alternative to the Products & Services tab. This is an okay solution if you’re a larger organization with the resources to maintain several semi-independent pages on LinkedIn. Essentially, each Showcase Page is like another company page. They have their own banner images and graphics, their own “about” descriptions, and their own sections for updates. If you’re a company with several distinct brands, Showcase Pages make perfect sense. If you’re a mid-sized organization with several distinct service or product offerings – each substantial enough to warrant their own set of content and an ongoing conversation with clients/customers – then Showcase Pages make sense as well. But if you’re a small business with a focused set of products or services that all fit under one well-organized umbrella, then running multiple Showcase pages probably isn’t the best use of resources. Instead, your best bet is to update your overall Company Page description to include as much product/service info as possible, and then push out updates about your products and service through posts on your Company Page.
Confused? That’s understandable. LinkedIn, like all of social media, is an ever-changing landscape.
